Lost Lore Tequila Blanco

The Purest Expression: Agave in its Elemental Form.

Lost Lore Tequila Blanco is the foundational spirit of the brand, a crystal-clear and vibrant expression that captures the true essence of the Highland (Los Altos) Blue Weber Agave.

Crafted by Master Distiller Sergio Cruz at the renowned NOM 1414 (Vivanco Family) distillery, this tequila honors a commitment to traditional, additive-free production. Mature agave hearts are slow-cooked in traditional stone/brick ovens (hornos), crushed using a roller mill, and fermented in open-air stainless steel tanks with Champagne yeast. The final spirit is double-distilled in copper pot stills and bottled immediately, unaged, to showcase the bright, clean, and intense character of the Jalisco Highlands terroir.

At 80 Proof (40% ABV), this blanco is balanced, pure, and perfect for both sipping and premium cocktails.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Immediately greets the senses with intense, sweet cooked agave. This is beautifully complemented by bright citrus zest (lime and grapefruit peel), a hint of black pepper spice, and an airy, mineral undertone.
  • Palate: Clean, crisp, and slightly silky on the tongue. The flavor profile is agave-forward, showcasing a natural, tropical sweetness reminiscent of roasted agave. Notes of fresh mint and sweet cinnamon emerge on the mid-palate, layered over a backbone of earthy minerality and a whisper of salinity.
  • Finish: Smooth and refreshing. The finish is long-lasting, concluding with a clean, pleasant peppery warmth that fades gently, leaving behind a subtle echo of citrus and sweet agave brine.

A quintessential Highland Blanco—clean, bright, and sweet, with enough complexity and spice to satisfy the most discerning palate. It stands as a confident and pure tribute to authentic Mexican craftsmanship.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
