Patrón Ahumado Reposado Tequila
Ancient Traditions. Modern Complexity.
Patrón Ahumado Reposado is a masterclass in artisanal tequila making, representing a bold exploration of smoke and spirit. This innovative expression is crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave, roasted in small pits with mesquite charcoal for seven days at Hacienda Patrón. This traditional roasting process, the "Ahumado" method, infuses the agave with a signature smokiness before it is crushed by a multi-ton volcanic stone Tahona wheel.
Aged in oak barrels to achieve a perfect "reposado" (rested) balance, this tequila marries the raw, earthy power of a smoke-kissed agave with the refined elegance of wood aging. It is a sophisticated choice for those who seek the depth of a mezcal with the smooth, premium finish of a world-class tequila.
Tasting Notes
- Color: A warm, luminous honey gold.
- Nose: An alluring bouquet of charred wood and earthy agave, interlaced with soft floral notes and a whisper of sweet vanilla.
- Palate: A complex, layered journey. It begins with the smooth, natural sweetness of cooked agave, quickly evolving into warming notes of black pepper and smoldering mesquite. As it settles, rich wood notes and a hint of nuttiness emerge.
- Finish: Long and remarkably smooth. The smoky character lingers gently, complemented by elegant trails of caramel and light spice.
Experience the Craft Patrón Ahumado Reposado is a versatile spirit that challenges the boundaries of traditional tequila:
- Neat or Large Rock: Sip slowly to allow the delicate smoke and caramel layers to unfold as the spirit breathes.
- Elevated Classics: Use it as a base for a "Smoky Paloma" or an "Ahumado Old Fashioned" to add a sophisticated, savory dimension to your cocktail.
Food Pairing:
The smoky profile pairs exceptionally well with grilled meats, aged cheeses, or dark chocolate desserts.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
