Zumbador Tequila High Proof Blanco

Experience tequila in its most vibrant, unfiltered form. Zumbador Tequila High Proof Blanco is a bold, additive-free expression crafted from 100 percent Blue Weber agave grown in the iron-rich soils of the Jalisco Highlands. Bottled at an impressive 108 proof (54 percent ABV), this high-proof blanco amplifies the pure essence of traditionally made tequila, delivering a complex and deeply rewarding spirit for aficiónados who appreciate uncompromised authenticity.

Old-World Craftsmanship

Zumbador honors ancestral methods at every step of production. The mature Highland agave hearts are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, then mechanically extracted with a tahona to preserve the fibers' deepest sugars. After fermenting naturally in a combination of wood and stainless-steel tanks, the juice undergoes a meticulous double distillation in copper and stainless-steel pot stills.

Leaving it unaged and bottled straight from the still at 108 proof allows the spirit to retain its full spectrum of essential oils, creating a rich, remarkably creamy mouthfeel that balances the intense heat and energy of the high alcohol content.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Intense, caramelized cooked agave takes center stage, punctuated by bright lime zest, sharp white pepper, a hint of warm cinnamon, and fresh, wet garden herbs.
  • Palate: Full-bodied and remarkably oily. A wave of natural agave sweetness is quickly countered by juicy grapefruit citrus, crisp mineral undertones, savory rosemary, and a cracking punch of black pepper spice.
  • Finish: Long, warm, and wonderfully clean. The high proof leaves a lasting impression of sweet cooked agave, anise, toasted baking spices, and a final twist of bitter citrus peel.

Serving Suggestion:

Sip it neat alongside a splash of chilled water to unlock hidden floral notes, or use it as an assertive, agave-forward backbone in high-end craft cocktails like a classic Tommy's Margarita.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
