Yéyo Tequila Don Jatt Reposado Rum Cask (100 Proof)

Experience the bold harmony of agave and island spice with Yéyo Tequila Don Jatt Reposado Rum Cask. This exceptional tequila is part of a special partnership, Don Jatt selected spirits are handpicked from the best agave spirits on the market, making this a truly curated offering.

This particular expression pushes the boundaries of traditional aging by finishing a perfectly rested Reposado in select Rum Casks. Bottled at a robust 100 proof (50% ABV), this high-proof spirit delivers an intensely flavorful and complex sipping experience.

Handcrafted in Jalisco, Mexico, this tequila starts with 100% Blue Weber Agave, slow-cooked in traditional stone ovens and double-distilled. The Reposado is initially aged for an optimal period, then transferred to hand-selected rum barrels, imparting a unique, seductive sweetness and depth not found in standard tequilas.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Inviting blend of cooked agave, caramelized banana, and toasted oak, quickly followed by a layer of brown sugar, vanilla, and sweet molasses from the rum cask. A hint of bright citrus zest provides balance.
  • Palate: Full-bodied and rich, with an initial warmth from the 100 proof. The flavor profile is a magnificent interplay: sweet, spiced tropical fruit (pineapple, apricot) meets classic Reposado notes of cinnamon, pepper, and earth. The rum influence adds a luxurious, creamy texture and a deep, Crème Brulé sweetness.
  • Finish: Long, warming, and velvety. It leaves a lingering impression of dark caramel, baking spices (nutmeg, clove), and a subtle but satisfying flash of the peppery agave heat. Exceptionally smooth for its high proof.
  • Suggested Serve: Best enjoyed neat or with a single, large ice cube to appreciate its complex character. Makes a powerful and flavorful base for an elevated craft cocktail.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
