Yéyo Día De Los Muertos Sol Celebration Vol. 2 Joven Tequila

A Toast to the Sun: Warmth, Energy, and Life (High Proof)

Celebrate the vibrancy of life and honor the spirits with Yéyo's Día De Los Muertos Sol Celebration Vol. 2. This high-proof Joven Tequila is a limited-edition tribute to the daytime celebration of Día de los Muertos, capturing the radiant energy of the sun (Sol).

Crafted from 100% single-estate Blue Weber Agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco, this spirit marries tradition with an innovative barrel finish. It is a unique Joven expression, achieved by blending 75% Reposado and 25% Blanco tequila, then resting the mixture for 11 months in ex-spiced apple cider casks. Fermented with champagne yeast to the sounds of classical music and verified additive-free, this is a masterful tequila that is bright, layered, and full of life. The higher proof (43% ABV / 86 Proof) elevates the complex flavor profile, making this a bold and unforgettable sipping experience.

Tasting Notes

  • Color: Clear, light straw with a golden shimmer from the barrel rest. Nose: Warm and inviting. Dominant aromas of spiced apple and cinnamon blend beautifully with the deep sweetness of cooked agave and a hint of bright citrus zest.
  • Palate: Vibrant and full-bodied. The high proof is well-integrated, delivering an initial burst of sweet agave and spiced apple cider. Layers of baking spice (nutmeg, allspice) follow, balanced by the characteristic citrus and herbal notes of the highland agave.
  • Finish: Crisp, clean, and pleasantly warm due to the higher proof. The finish lingers with subtle notes of sweetness and a clean peppery spice.

A brilliant and unique Joven tequila that perfectly balances the sweetness and spice from the cider cask aging with the traditional, high-quality character of highland agave. Ideal for sipping neat or creating elevated, festive cocktails.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
