Tip Top Mai Tai:
The Tropical Classic, Perfected. Don’t let the small size fool you.
The Tip Top Mai Tai is a "shaker-strength" cocktail packed into a convenient 100ml can, delivering the sophisticated, rum-forward experience of a world-class tiki bar without the need for ten different ingredients.
Developed in collaboration with legendary bartender Miles Macquarrie, this Ready-to-Drink (RTD) classic stays true to the 1944 original recipe. It eschews the sugary juices often found in "island" drinks, focusing instead on the holy trinity of a true Mai Tai: robust rum, tart lime, and delicate almond.
The Build
- The Base: A custom blend of silver and aged Jamaican rums provides a funky, full-bodied backbone.
- The Brightness: Fresh lime juice and orange curaçao for a citrusy, sophisticated snap. The Secret: Traditional orgeat (almond syrup) to provide that signature creamy, floral finish that defines the category.
Tasting Notes
- Aroma: An immediate tropical invitation of toasted almond, lime zest, and the "hogo" funk of Jamaican rum.
- Palate: Bold and balanced. The initial hit of tart citrus is quickly rounded out by the rich, savory sweetness of the orgeat. The aged rum adds notes of vanilla and spice, making the drink feel substantial rather than sugary.
- Finish: Clean, nutty, and deceptively strong. It leaves a lingering hint of orange peel and warm spice.
The Experience
The Tip Top Mai Tai is designed for the connoisseur on the go. Whether you're at a tailgate, on a boat, or simply want a bar-quality drink at home without the cleanup, this "pocket-sized" powerhouse delivers.
How to Serve:
For the authentic experience, do not drink it straight from the can. Shake well with ice and strain into a double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lime wheel to unlock the full aromatic potential of the rums.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
