Postumo Tequila Blanco
Postumo Tequila Blanco is an authentic expression of the Jalisco Highlands, crafted with unwavering dedication to tradition. Master Distiller Alfredo Pelayo Brambilo and Jaime Ortega oversee every step of its creation at Casa di Piedra Distillery in El Arenal, Jalisco. Rejecting modern shortcuts, they produce this small-batch tequila from 100% Blue Weber Agave, meticulously honoring the plant it is named after. This un-aged Blanco is the purest form of Postumo's spirit, capturing the vibrant essence of the agave. The piñas are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, allowing the sugars to develop fully, and then fermented using native yeasts from the agave fields. The result is a crisp, clean tequila that is a true reflection of its terroir.
Tasting Notes
- Color: Crystal clear with a brilliant, silver hue.
- Nose: A vibrant and inviting aroma that bursts with fresh agave, green bell pepper, and a subtle herbaceousness. Notes of citrus—lemon and lime zest—are intertwined with a distinct minerality and a hint of white pepper.
- Palate: The flavor is a beautiful balance of sweet and earthy. It is silky-smooth on the palate, with a burst of roasted agave and a lively touch of black pepper. The minerality is prominent, lending it a clean and refreshing character. Subtle hints of fresh herbs and sweet tropical fruit add to its complexity.
- Finish: The finish is long, clean, and invigorating. The warmth of the alcohol is perfectly balanced by the lingering sweetness of cooked agave and a pleasant peppery spice, leaving the palate feeling refreshed and ready for another sip.
Postumo Tequila Blanco is an ideal spirit for sipping neat, allowing you to appreciate its raw, authentic character. It shines in any cocktail where a clean, agave-forward tequila is desired. It is a testament to the purity and passion of traditional tequila-making.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
