Mi Casa 9-Year Extra Añejo:
The Infinite Depth of Michoacán
Patience is the secret ingredient of Mi Casa 9-Year Extra Añejo. While the world rushes, this rare spirit has spent nearly a decade resting in the quiet darkness of our cellar, evolving into a masterpiece of complexity. It is one of the most aged expressions to ever emerge from the highlands of Michoacán, representing the absolute peak of our single-estate journey.
Born from 100% Blue Weber Agave harvested at peak brix (32%–42%), this liquid has undergone a transformative nine-year slumber in oak. The result is a tequila that bridges the gap between the vibrant mineral heart of Churintzio and the deep, opulent soul of a world-class cognac or extra-aged scotch.
The Evolution of Time
A Nine-Year Journey: Most tequilas peak early; ours was chosen for its exceptional structure, allowing it to withstand nearly a decade of aging while retaining its agave identity.
The Highland Terroir: The iron-rich clay soils of our estate provide the mineral backbone that prevents the wood from becoming overbearing, maintaining a sophisticated balance.
Single-Estate Heritage: Every drop comes from our family-owned plantation, ensuring a thread of consistency from the red earth to the crystal decanter.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: A deep, lustrous mahogany with copper highlights. It moves with a heavy, syrupy grace in the glass, leaving thick, persistent "tears."
- Nose: An intoxicating symphony of dark flavors. Initial aromas of rich espresso and pipe tobacco give way to caramelized figs, toasted walnuts, and a profound scent of aged leather and forest floor.
- Palate: Paradoxically bold and velvety. The palate is flooded with notes of dark chocolate ganache, Madagascar vanilla bean, and charred sandalwood. Beneath the oak, a ghostly sweetness of slow-roasted agave remains, providing an earthy foundation.
- Finish: Transcendental. A finish that lasts for minutes, evolving from sweet smoke and dried dark fruits to a final, lingering kiss of baking spices and mineral-rich earth.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
