Lost Lore Tequila Añejo
Unveiling the Aged Treasure: Harmony of Agave and Oak.
Lost Lore Añejo is a deeply rewarding expression that captures the best of the high-altitude Blue Weber Agave from the Los Altos region of Jalisco, seamlessly blended with the character of long-term barrel aging.
Crafted by Master Distiller Sergio Cruz, the process begins with the slow roasting of agave in traditional stone/brick ovens. After fermentation with champagne yeast, the spirit is twice-distilled in copper pot stills. This Añejo is then patiently aged for up to 36 months in used American White Oak Whiskey Barrels. This extended maturation imparts rich layers of complexity and color without ever losing the bright, signature core of the agave. Certified additive-free, this is an authentic and sophisticated aged tequila, perfect for the connoisseur.
Tasting Notes
- Color: Deep, rich amber with warm mahogany reflections, characteristic of prolonged aging. Nose: Luxuriously inviting. Dominant aromas of caramel, warm vanilla, and toasted oak lead the way, beautifully supported by sweet hints of baking spice (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a subtle note of dried cherry.
- Palate: Rich, smooth, and full-bodied. The palate opens with the comforting sweetness of cooked agave and butterscotch, which quickly melds with the oak-derived flavors of vanilla bean and cinnamon. A pleasant black pepper spice provides structure and prevents the sweetness from becoming cloying.
- Finish: Long, warm, and exceptionally smooth. The finish is complex, with lingering notes of oak, spice, and a final, clean touch of agave mint and banana that encourages the next sip.
A complex, refined, and exceptionally smooth Añejo. It achieves a beautiful balance between the sweetness of mature agave and the deep, rich flavors of the whiskey barrel aging, making it an ideal tequila for sipping neat.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
