Gran Padre Reposado: The Harmony of Agave and Oak
Aging: 4 Months in White Oak Barrels
Gran Padre Reposado is where the vibrant energy of the Tequila Valley meets the sophisticated influence of white oak. This expression is defined by its subtlety; rather than masking the agave, the four-month resting period acts as a soft lens, polishing the spirit’s edges and adding a luxurious layer of sweetness. By utilizing a slow 36-hour roast in traditional masonry ovens, Gran Padre ensures a deep, caramelized foundation that stands up beautifully to the barrel’s character.
Tasting Notes
This Reposado offers a "dual delight", the brightness of a Blanco with the creamy, dessert-like nuances of an aged spirit.
- Appearance: A soft, pale gold, reminiscent of straw and early morning sunlight.
- The Nose: A delicate balance of floral agave and warmth. You'll detect sweet aromas of vanilla bean and maple syrup, followed by a gentle hint of toasted oak and dried orange peel.
- The Palate: Incredibly smooth and approachable. The primary flavor of cooked agave is enriched by a buttery mouthfeel. Mid-palate, notes of salty caramel and light cinnamon emerge, providing a sophisticated bridge between the wood and the plant.
- The Finish: Clean and refined. It leaves a soft, lingering warmth with a final touch of honey and a whisper of woody spice.
The Art of the Sip
Gran Padre Reposado is a versatile jewel, engineered for those who want complexity without the heavy tannin profile of a longer-aged Añejo. It is the "goldilocks" of the range, perfectly balanced.
The Signature Serve: Enjoy it in a rocks glass with a large ice sphere and a splash of premium mineral water to open up the maple and floral notes.
The Elevated Cocktail: A premier choice for a Reposado Old Fashioned or a high-end Skinny Margarita, where the caramel notes add depth without the need for excess sweeteners.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
