Gran Centenario “Tres Barricas” Limited Edition Reposado
Tequila Gran Centenario “Tres Barricas” is a sophisticated expression that honors the brand's long-standing tradition of blending artistry with innovation. This limited-edition Reposado is crafted from 100% blue Weber agave and undergoes a unique maturation process that highlights the complexity of multi-cask aging.
The Crafting Process
What sets "Tres Barricas" apart is its triple-wood aging regimen. Each barrel type contributes distinct characteristics to the final profile:
- American Oak: Provides the foundational structure, offering classic notes of vanilla and toasted coconut.
- French Oak: Adds a layer of elegance with delicate spice and floral undertones.
- California Red Wine Casks: Imparts a unique complexity, contributing rich berry notes and a deep, golden hue to the spirit.
Following this aging period, the tequila is finished using the proprietary "Selección Suave" process, which involves blending different barrel reserves to achieve a smooth, harmonious character.
Tasting Notes
- Aroma: The nose is greeted with a rich bouquet of cooked agave and toasted oak. Beneath the initial woodiness, you will find layers of sweet vanilla, dried fruit, and a distinct, vinous hint of dark berries from the wine casks.
- Palate: This tequila is medium to full-bodied, with a silky texture. The sweetness of the agave is balanced by savory spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Mid-palate, the influence of the red wine barrels emerges, offering subtle flavors of black cherry and plum that intermingle with creamy butterscotch.
- Finish The finish is long and exceptionally smooth. It leaves a lingering warmth, with a touch of black pepper, roasted nuts, and a gentle tannic grip from the French oak.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
