G4 Añejo de Madera Día de Muertos 2025 Special Edition

G4 Tequila, from the legendary Camarena family at Destileria El Pandillo, presents a truly unique and highly anticipated limited-edition release: the G4 Añejo de Madera Día de Muertos 2025. This special expression honors Mexico's most cherished holiday by blending masterful craftsmanship with a tribute to life, memory, and tradition.

Unlike previous Día de Muertos releases, this year's edition is a meticulously crafted Añejo, aged for 12 months in vintage George Dickel Tennessee whiskey barrels. The aging process takes place under the watchful eye of Master Distiller Felipe Camarena, allowing the tequila to develop a rich, complex character while maintaining the clean, agave-forward profile that is the hallmark of G4.

Each bottle is a collector's treasure, presented in one of four unique wooden collector's boxes. These boxes are a work of art in themselves, adorned with the vibrant and traditional papel picado artwork that is synonymous with the joyful spirit of Día de Muertos.

Tasting Notes

  • Color: A deep, rich amber with brilliant golden highlights.
  • Aroma: A complex and inviting bouquet. The nose is a dance of cooked agave and black pepper, layered with subtle notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and a hint of butterscotch. A whisper of warm oak and light smoke rounds out the profile.
  • Palate: The flavor is a warm and deep embrace of caramel and dark chocolate. It is beautifully complemented by notes of oak, leather, and baking spices that add a warm, comforting depth. Despite its maturity, the distinct G4 character shines through, with the agave at its heart.
  • Finish: The finish is long and creamy, with a subtle zest of citrus that provides a refreshing lift. It leaves a lingering warmth and the perfectly balanced minerality that invites you to take another sip.

This G4 Añejo de Madera is more than just a tequila—it's a celebration in a bottle. With a 43% ABV (86 proof), it is an ideal spirit for sipping neat, savoring with friends and family during the festivities, or adding a truly special piece to your collection.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
