G4 Añejo 6-Barrel Special Edition Tequila

Elevate your collection with the G4 Añejo 6-Barrel Special Edition, a masterclass in additive-free tequila from the legendary Felipe Camarena. Distilled at El Pandillo in Jesus Maria, Jalisco, this limited release represents the pinnacle of the "Fourth Generation" (G4) legacy.

Crafted using a unique blend of 50% captured rainwater and 50% natural spring water, this tequila is cooked in traditional stone ovens and crushed with a mechanical tahona. This specific Special Edition is a curation of six hand-selected barrels, aged to perfection to achieve a complex harmony between the heritage of Los Altos agave and the sophisticated influence of oak.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: A deep, radiant amber with thick, slow-moving legs that hint at its rich mouthfeel and natural oils.
  • Aroma: An inviting bouquet that opens with roasted agave and warm vanilla. As it breathes, layers of soft baking spices, cinnamon and clove, emerge, followed by a delicate whisper of citrus peel and toasted almond.
  • Palate: Silky and full-bodied. The initial sweetness of butterscotch and cooked agave is balanced by a sophisticated peppery tingle typical of El Pandillo spirits. You’ll find nuanced notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a touch of smoky oak that never overpowers the agave.
  • Finish: Long, elegant, and exceptionally smooth. It leaves a lingering warmth of oak spice and sweet earthiness, reminding you of the high-altitude terroir where it began.

Serving Suggestion

To fully appreciate the complexity of the 6-Barrel selection, serve neat in a Glencairn glass or a Riedel tequila flute at room temperature. For an indulgent pairing, enjoy alongside a piece of high-quality dark chocolate or a mild cigar.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
