Fuenteseca Reserva 11 Year Extra Añejo 750ml: A Masterpiece of Distillation and Aging

In tequila, few expressions can match the meticulous craftsmanship of Fuenteseca's 11-Year Extra Añejo. Born from the visionary approach of Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca, this tequila is a testament to innovation, patience, and extraordinary attention to detail.

Distilled in late 2008, this exceptional spirit emerges from a unique blend of distillation techniques. Two-thirds of the distillate was created using a double-copper column still with plates removed—a method deliberately lowers the distillation proof, preserving more of the agave's intricate character. The remaining third was still crafted in an alembic pot, adding further complexity to the final blend.

The aging process is equally remarkable. A carefully curated barrel selection tells its own story:

  • 30% aged in American white oak barrels previously used for California red wine
  • 70% aged in dark French oak barrels

These barrels found their resting place in a subterranean barrel room—cool and dry, with soft air circulation gently caressing the aging spirits. Eleven years of patient maturation transformed this tequila into a liquid artifact.

Tasting Notes:

  • Aroma: Warm toffee, roasted agave, dried mangos, oak, ground coffee
  • Palate: Slightly sweet, baking spices, clove, roasted agaves, dried fruit, pepper
  • Finish: Peppery yet delicate finish reminiscent of a well-done scotch or cognac

A sensory journey that defies expectations. The aroma opens with warm toffee and roasted agave, punctuated by dried mango and a hint of ground coffee. The palate is a complex dance of flavors—baking spices and clove intertwine with roasted agave and dried fruit, while a subtle pepper note adds depth and intrigue. The finish is extraordinary—a delicate, peppery conclusion that echoes the refinement of a premium scotch or cognac.

Certified 100% agave and verified additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker, this is more than a spirit—it's a collector's treasure. Bottled at 83.4 proof (41.7% ABV), each 750mL bottle represents a pinnacle of tequila craftsmanship.

A liquid narrative of time, tradition, and uncompromising excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is all your inventory online?

We try to keep the store as updated as possible, but we always get new shipments. So if you don't see what you are looking for, send an email, and we'll check to see what Moose is hiding in the back room.

Why is beer available as in-store pick-up only?

Our temperature-controlled storage systems preserve beer's quality and flavor until pickup. By maintaining precise refrigeration, we protect each batch's unique characteristics and ensure customers receive the freshest possible product.

However, due to the challenges of maintaining consistent temperature during shipping, we exclusively offer in-store pickup for our craft beers.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
