Dos Artes Extra Añejo Tequila 1L
Dos Artes Extra Añejo Tequila is widely recognized for its iconic, hand-painted ceramic "clase" bottles, but the spirit inside is equally meticulously crafted. This tequila is produced from 100% blue Weber agave and aged in French and American white oak barrels for approximately five years, resulting in a profile that bridges the gap between traditional agave spirits and premium cognac.
Product Profile
- Agave Source: Estate-grown in the Tequila Valley (Lowlands)
- Aging: Minimum 5 years in charred oak
- Proof: 80 (40% ABV)
- Packaging: 1 Liter hand-painted ceramic decanter
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep mahogany with copper highlights. It exhibits heavy tearing on the glass, indicating a high concentration of oils and residual sugars from the long aging process.
- Aroma: The nose is dominated by sweet confectionery notes. Initial scents of toasted marshmallows and vanilla bean are followed by secondary layers of hazelnut, dark chocolate, and a faint, dried tobacco leaf finish.
- Palate: On the tongue, the texture is oily and full-bodied. The flavor profile centers on cooked agave sweetness, balanced by intense barrel influence. You will find distinct notes of: Salted caramel and butterscotch Cinnamon and clove spice, rich toasted oak, and espresso
- Finish: Long, warm, and remarkably smooth. The sweetness tapers off into a lingering spice and a hint of dried fruit, with almost no alcoholic "burn."
Serving Suggestion
Due to its complexity and sweet profile, this is strictly a sipping tequila. Serve it neat in a wide-mouthed snifter or a Glencairn glass at room temperature to allow the aromas to fully open. It pairs exceptionally well with dark chocolate desserts or a mild cigar.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
