Sotol is both the name of our unique spirit and the resilient, wild-harvested plant (Dasylirion wheeleri) we make it from. A true ranch-to-glass spirit, Desert Door is crafted entirely in Texas, embodying the unquestionable taste of the rugged land with no added sugars, artificial flavors, or colors.
What is Sotol?
Unlike tequila or mezcal, Sotol is distilled from the Desert Spoon plant, which takes up to 15 years to mature but regenerates quickly—making it arguably the world’s most sustainable spirit.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
