Cascahuín 55-25 Añejo: 70th Anniversary Limited Edition
Celebrate 7 decades of craft with a tequila that bridges ancestral tradition and modern innovation. The Cascahuín 55-25 is a meticulously curated anniversary blend, honoring three generations of the Rosales family’s dedication to the El Arenal region.
This limited release is a masterful marriage of spirits: 90% Tequila aged in Ex-Sherry Casks and 10% of the legendary Cascahuín 48 Añejo. Bottled at a robust 44% ABV (88 Proof) after twelve months of maturation, it offers a profile that is both deeply complex and remarkably balanced. It is a liquid tribute to the essence of Cascahuín, designed for those who appreciate the patience required to reach perfection.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: A brilliant, deep amber with golden hues and slow-moving legs that signal its rich texture and sherry influence.
- Aroma: The nose opens with an immediate wave of cooked agave and dried fruits—think raisins and dates—characteristic of the sherry wood. Subtle layers of toasted almonds, cinnamon, and a hint of damp earth emerge, rounded out by a faint whisper of citrus peel.
- Palate: On the tongue, the entry is silky yet powerful. The sweetness of roasted agave is complemented by the nutty, vinous notes of the sherry casks. Mid-palate, you will find complex savory notes of black pepper and minerals, a nod to the 10% inclusion of the high-proof Cascahuín 48.
- Finish: The finish is long, warm, and exceptionally clean. It leaves a lingering trail of dark chocolate, oak spice, and a buttery sweetness that invites a contemplative second sip.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?
Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.
Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.
One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.
Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.
In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
