Alma del Jaguar Tequila Reposado - Pear Wood Cask Finish

Introducing a truly pioneering and exceptionally rare spirit: the Alma del Jaguar Tequila Reposado. This distinguished expression from the "Barricas" series is a bold departure from tradition, finished in wild-harvested French pear wood casks from the Jura region, rather than the standard oak.

This is a highly sought-after, limited edition with only 144 cases produced, making it a unique collectible for any tequila enthusiast.

Tasting Notes:

  • Aroma: The nose is a captivating and elegant bouquet. It opens with the delicate and fragrant scent of pear blossom, followed by the unmistakable aroma of sweet, ripe pear. A subtle undercurrent of vanilla and a hint of warm baking spice add complexity and depth, creating an inviting and harmonious profile.
  • Palate: On the palate, this Reposado is silky smooth and beautifully balanced. The prominent flavor of sweet pear perfectly complements the sweet, earthy character of the cooked agave. The unique influence of the pear wood cask introduces notes of gentle baking spice and a subtle earthiness, creating a multi-layered and delicious experience.
  • Finish: The finish is clean, long, and exceptionally smooth. The gentle sweetness of the ripe pear and the warming sensation of the baking spice linger gracefully, leaving a pleasant and memorable aftertaste. It is a testament to the unique character imparted by the rare pear wood, making this a truly unforgettable spirit.

This Tequila Reposado is an innovative expression that masterfully marries the classic spirit of Mexico with the distinct, elegant essence of French pear wood. Its extremely limited production makes it a special and valuable addition for any connoisseur seeking a one-of-a-kind tasting experience.

What is the difference between Tequila & Mezcal?

Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch and bourbon are types of whiskey.

Tequila and mezcal are both types of agave-based spirits that are popular in Mexico, but there are some key differences between the two. Tequila is made exclusively from the blue agave plant, which is primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. Mezcal, on the other hand, can be made from any type of agave plant, and is often made using traditional, labor-intensive methods.

One of the most noticeable differences between tequila and mezcal is their flavor. Tequila is typically smooth and subtle, with hints of fruit and spices, while mezcal has a more complex, smoky flavor that comes from the roasting of the agave hearts before they are fermented and distilled.

Another difference between the two spirits is their production process. Tequila is typically made using modern industrial methods, while mezcal is often produced using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. This can give mezcal a more authentic, artisanal character.

In general, tequila is considered to be a more refined and sophisticated spirit, while mezcal is often viewed as a more rustic and traditional drink. Both are popular in Mexico and are enjoyed around the world, so the best way to decide which one you like is to try them both and see which one suits your tastes.
